Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission releases draft of gas rules
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado (April 1, 2008) — New draft rules for energy development in Colorado call for more environmental and water protections, while also abandoning a proposed permitting process that drew the ire of the oil and gas industry.
The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) on Monday released a set of proposed regulations that include restricting drilling in critical wildlife areas, primarily in Western Colorado, for specified periods of up to 90 days and prohibiting the construction of oil and gas facilities within 500 feet of “sources of drinking water” for a distance of five miles upstream of a “public water supply intake.” Read more.
